Amendment C391 - Ash Road (East), Leopold Rezoning

The City of Greater Geelong proposes to rezone land on the eastern side of Ash Road Leopold for new residential growth.

The Amendment was adopted by Council on 26 April 2022 and sent to the Minister for Planning for approval on the date listed above.

An independent panel was appointed to review submissions and the panel hearing was held on the 22, 23 and 25 November 2021.  The panel provided its report to Council and a copy is provided under “Panel Hearing Documents”.  Council officers reviewed the panel’s recommendations and prepared a Council meeting report.

Council considered a report on the submissions to this amendment on 28 September and resolved to refer them to an independent panel.  A copy of the Council Delegate’s Report is provided under "Supporting Documents".

Council prepared Amendment C391 to the planning scheme.

The proposed amendment affects land at 73-155 Ash Road Leopold and proposes to rezone the land from Farming Zone to General Residential Zone Schedule 1 with a Design and Development Overlay.  A concurrent planning permit application is for a multi-lot subdivision and removal of native vegetation for only the land at 87-127 Ash Road Leopold.

The decision to prepare and exhibit the Amendment was made by Council at its meeting on 8 September 2020. The minutes from the meeting can be viewed here.
