The Amendment was adopted by Council on 10 July 2018 and sent to the Minister for Planning for approval on 6th August 2018.

An Independent Panel was
appointed to review submissions. It conducted a Panel Hearing on the
12 February 2018. The Panel has provided its
report to Council and a copy is provided below under “Panel Hearing Documents”.
Council officers are
reviewing the Panel’s recommendations and will prepare a report to be
considered at a future Council meeting.

Council under delegation considered a report on submissions on this Amendment on 21 November 2017 and resolved to refer them to an Independent Panel.
A copy of the Council's Delegate Report is provided below under "Supporting Documents".
Anyone who made a submission will be notified about the Panel Hearing (the first step is a Directions Hearing) and given an opportunity to present to the Panel.

Public Exhibition of Amendment C359 has now closed.
The next step is for a report on submissions to be prepared and considered by Council's delegate. A copy of the report when completed will be posted on this website by the date shown above.

Council has prepared Amendment C359 to the Planning Scheme which proposes to:
-
implement the findings of the City Fringe Heritage Area Review 2016 through changes to existing heritage overlays and the addition of new heritage overlays and local planning policies.
-
implement some of the findings of the Outer Areas Heritage Study 1998-2000, as updated by the Ceres Heritage Study Report 2017 through the application of the heritage overlay to 6 individual sites.
-
implement the findings of the Former Dennys Lascelles Woolstore Heritage Assessment 2017 through the application of an individual heritage overlay.
-
amend various mapping and schedule anomalies within the Heritage Overlay.
The amendment also proposes to delete the heritage overlay (HO741) and the Environmental Audit Overlay (EAO) from the former ropewalk at 9 Scarlett Street Geelong West.
The "Notice of Preparation of Amendment", "Explanatory Report" and the maps below under Amendment Documents provide full details of the proposed heritage overlay changes.
The following maps provide a summary of the changes in the three City Fringe areas:
City Fringe Heritage Area East Map - area bounded by Garden Street, Eastern Beach, Bellerine Street and Myers Street which shows the changes to the Heritage Overlay in this area.
City Fringe Heritage Area North Map - area at Mercer Street and Western Beach Road which shows the changes to the Heritage Overlay in this area.
City Fringe Heritage Area West Map - area bounded by La Trobe Terrace, McKillop Street, Gheringhap Street and Little Malop Street which shows the changes to the Heritage Overlay in this area.
