The Minister for Planning voided Amendment C251 when a
notice was published in the Victoria Government Gazette on 26 November 2019.
The Amendment is now void and has no effect.
The Minister’s department will expedite the approval of a
new combined amendment and permit under section 20(4) of the Planning and
Environment Act to introduce planning controls for the land at 1 Henry
Street, Belmont when it passes into private ownership. The land will transfer
to private ownership once the CSIRO has completed decontamination works.

The Amendment was adopted by Council on 20th September 2017 and sent to the Minister for Planning for approval on the date listed above.

An Independent Panel was appointed to review submissions. It conducted a Panel Hearing on Monday 19th June 2017. A copy of the Panel Report is provided below under Panel Hearing Documents.

Council considered a report on the submissions to this Amendment on 1 May 2017 and resolved to refer them to an Independent Panel.

Anyone who made a submission will be notified about the Panel Hearing (the first step is the Directions Hearing) and given an opportunity to present to the Panel.

Public Exhibition of Amendment C251 & PP408/2016 has now closed.
The next step is for a report on submissions to be prepared and considered by Council's delegate.

Council has prepared Amendment C251 to the Planning Scheme.
The amendment proposes to zone former Commonwealth Government land to the General Residential Zone Schedule 1 and apply a Development Plan Overlay.
The Planning Permit Application seeks approval for multi lot subdivision and the construction of 26 dwellings.
