Land affected by the amendment
The amendment applies to land within the flight paths of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) helicopters that fly to and from Geelong Hospital.
What the amendment does
The amendment applies Design and Development Overlay Schedules 35, 36 and 38 to the flight paths for the current and future emergency helipads at the Geelong Hospital to protect the operational airspace for helicopter medical transport flights. They have been defined to reflect the operating environment for the existing and future helipad.
The Design and Development Overlays (DDOs) will ensure that air ambulance helicopter operators will be aware of the location and height of objects within the approach, departure and manoeuvring area of the Geelong Helipad EMS, all essential information for the safe and efficient conduct of the EMS flights.
