The Amendment proposes to rezone land in the St Leonards Growth Area 2 from Farming Zone to General Residential Zone Schedule 1.
The rezoning to residential will implement Council’s land use strategy for the area as adopted in the St Leonards Structure Plan.
The Amendment is required to allow for the land to develop for residential purposes.
A Design and Development Overlay is also being applied to the land to coordinate the future subdivision and development of the housing estate, including guiding the location of future open space, roads and drainage basins.
The amendment is supported by an Agreement to provide for developer contributions, including for the establishment of an Early Learning Community Centre in St Leonards.
